The Association was founded at Newport in 1911 as The
Monmouthshire County Football Association. Its area is
the whole geographical area of Gwent. It changed its
name to the Gwent County Football Association in 1976.
The headquarters are at the Civic Centre in Newport.
The affairs are governed by:- Chairman, Vice Chairman,
President, Senior & Junior Vice Presidents, Life Vice
Presidents, Life Members, Hon. Secretary, Hon.
Treasurer, Hon. Assistant Secretary, Members of Council
as elected. The Association is directly affiliated to
the Football Association of Wales.
The following Leagues are affiliated:- Gwent County FA
League, East Gwent League, Gwent Central League,
Newport & District League, North Gwent League, North
Gwent Sunday League, Gwent County Youth League, East
Gwent Junior Youth League, Islwyn Junior Youth League,
Newport District Junior Youth League & Torfaen Junior
Youth League. There are 300 affiliated Clubs with nearly
425 teams playing each weekend. There are 7700 senior
players and 5500 junior players licensed to play
football.
