It is with great sadness we report the passing of former Association Referee Keith Postle. Keith was one of the most respected referees in Gwent. Our sincere condolences go out to all the family at this very sad time.

Our Association is very sad to hear of the passing of Barrie Allen. Barrie was a life long member of Race Football Club and a valued member of the Gwent Central League. Barrie was a former Chairman of the Gwent Premier League and served as a Council Member of our Association. Barrie will be missed and our sincere condolences go out to Barrie's wife Catherine and all the family at this sad time. RIP Barrie.

Our Association is very sad to hear of the passing of John Pisani. John was a Life Member of the MBS Newport & District Football League and a valuable Council Member of our Association. John was also a former FAW referee and above all a quietly spoken gentleman. He will be sorely missed by all. Our condolences go out to Marilyn and all the family at the this very sad time. RIP John.

Our Association is very sad to hear, that our friend, and FAW Life Councillor, Idwal Williams, has passed away. Our sincere condolences go out to all Idwal's family at this very sad time. Idwal will be remembered for his time as Referees Appointments Officer for the Welsh League, a job he did with great credit. RIP Idwal.

Firebreak Lockdown and Football in Wales

Yesterday (19th  October 2020), the Welsh Government announced a “firebreak” National Lockdown from 6:00pm on Friday, 23rd October 2020 until Monday, 9th  November 2020 that will have an impact on football in Wales. 

The Welsh Government has released a detailed set of frequently asked questions about the latest lockdown and the restrictions that will be imposed during the 17 day period.

As a result, football in Wales will be impacted in the following ways: 

The FAW urges everyone to follow the Welsh Government guidelines during the firebreak lockdown to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The FAW is currently seeking clarification from the Welsh Government on the level of restrictions that will be in place following the end of this lockdown period, in order to ascertain what football activity can resume from 9 November.
